"Closing the Graduation Gap"
In the last decade, our community has pulled together to help raise the graduation rate in Anchorage 20 points to an all-time high of 80%. Getting those last ten points to our goal of 90% by 2020 is going to take everyone at the table working together. We're calling on youth, business leaders and community members from across the city to join in an interactive, day-long summit to shape solutions for the future success of our youth, and our city.
Anchorage's GradNation Summit is part of a series of 100 summits to be held around the country through 2016 as part of America's Promise's GradNation Campaign, a large and growing movement of dedicated individuals, organizations and communities working together to raise the national high school graduation rate to 90% by 2020.
The 90% by 2020 community partnership is engaging individuals and organizations from the Anchorage community to work together alongside schools and families to address the issues that undermine student performance so that we can reach a graduation rate of 90% by 2020.
90% by 2020’s goals, decisions and action plans are based on objective, measurable information; we are driven by local data and informed by community expertise and national research. Agencies, organizations and individuals who engage in this work commit to sharing data and measurements and hold one another accountable for results.
United Way of Anchorage provides backbone support to the partnership to bring participants together, build public will, mobilize funding and engage volunteers.
